Women’s Hoops: Tigers surge past Cats for win
Northwestern held an 11-point lead midway through the second half. The Wildcats have focused on playing 40 minutes after losing a six-point lead late in an early season game with Kansas State. Missouri finished off the game when NU couldn’t Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Tigers went on a 14-0 run in a little more than six and a half minutes to take a three-point lead with 2:11 left. Sophomore Meshia Reed hit a jumper to pull NU within one, but Missouri held on for a 69-63 win in the finals of the DoubleTree White Inviational.
Reed finished with 14 points and earned a place on the all-tournament team. Sophomore center Amy Jaeschke was the MVP of the tournament and posted a double double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Junior forward Kristin Cartwright continued her stellar play with 16 points and nine rebounds.
